A
group of concerned scientists and employees working in
international research institutes and universities have started a
signature campaign against the preparation of the US government
for a War on Iraq. It is planned to publish the signatures
together with the declaration below to European
Parliament, local governments, UN and politicians by end
of January 2003 (around 27th, report of the UN
inspectors). Everyone working in research institutes and
universities is invited to join the campaign with his/her
signature. A similar
campaign has already been started in the US, also published
in major newspapers, like The New York Times and Los Angeles
Times.
We,
the undersigned, work in research institutes and universities
with many international links.
We
believe:
We
call upon the international community to canvass the US and UK
governments to discard their plans for war and call upon the UN
Security Council to do all they can to prevent the war.
